Rick Herrera, Fencing Dad & Adult Competitive Fencer
“People pick up fencing for many different reasons. For us, it started when my daughter joined at age 7. Today, she’s been recruited to fence in college and is now her team’s captain! This club has truly become part of our extended family. Both of my teenage sons also fell in love with the sport, and I eventually joined myself, wanting a deeper connection with them and a better understanding of the passion they shared. One of my favorite memories was when we competed together at the North America Cup as Herrera, Herrera & Herrera!
This club is a special place. It inspires everyone to bring out their best and recognizes the potential in each fencer, no matter where they start.”

Jamie Willemse, Adult Competitive Fencer
“After a lifetime of competitive soccer, I had to step away from the game due to injuries. That’s when I discovered fencing, a sport that immediately captured my passion and competitive spirit. Since making the switch, I’ve been honored to earn a place on Team USA in the Veterans category, representing the United States at both the Zonal and World Championships. Along the way, I’ve won multiple national medals and found a new arena where I can push myself and compete fiercely.
Fencing has given me not only a new challenge but also a community that fuels my drive to keep going.”
