How old do you have to be, or am I too old to fence?

Children can start at age 7. Fencing teaches a host of wonderful life skills from the start.  Adults can start at any age, fencing has a competitive category of 70+. This is a lifelong sport that keeps you alert, active and having alot of fun. Our Sherry Green started to fence at age 61, made it onto Team USA 5 x and became a World Champion team member – winning the team gold medal in Veteran’s women’s saber. At age 76 she is still strong and active – her goal is to make the 80+ team in a few more years! Click here to read about the benefits of fencing as an adult

Do we buy our own equipment?

We loan you all the equipment for the beginners class. Once you are sure you are going to continue, you should first buy your own glove, practice mask, and chest protector. After that add your own jacket and fencing pants (called knickers). Each class level has equipment requirements.
